NetPort Energy Cluster‘s second breakfast lecture, this time with the theme “The Academy Breakfast” was held on March 9, 2017. Since we work in the triple helix model and wants to promote cooperation between universities, businesses and the public sector, we invited Henrik Ny, senior lecturer at the Department of Strategic Sustainable development of Blekinge Institute of Technology to provide a lecture with the theme ” How do we make a rapid transition to sustainable transport and energy systems? ”. Henry also runs SustainTrans Group with a focus on rapid shift to fossil-free and sustainable transport and energy systems.
Henrik said that we need the support of instruments to be able to switch to fossil-free. He also pointed out that we need to reduce the use of cars, while public transport must meet individual travel needs. According to Henry, there is a trend of rising prices for fossil fuels and lower price of renewable energy. To reach a fossil and sustainable future, we must have a common understanding of the challenges and everyone should be involved in the transition, not only adults but also the younger generation.
